    Amsterdam

Amsterdam is known for its artistic heritage, canal network and narrow façade houses, a legacy from the Golden Age. Visit a museum, take a boat trip, walk through the Vondelpark and experience the pleasant atmosphere on the many terraces and shopping streets. Throughout the year there are covered markets at special locations, such as the IJhallen, Cultuurpark Westergas with fashion, design, art, food stalls and the NeighbourFood Market with all kinds of street food to lick your fingers at. Also visit the nice microbreweries in and around Amsterdam. Whether you are looking for a dark brown bock, a fresh white or something in between, just assume that one is brewed to your taste!

    Hanseatic city of Deventer

Hanseatic city Deventer on the river IJssel is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands and you can see that everywhere in the city! Beautiful monuments, beautiful squares, old museums but also plenty of fun for those who want to go shopping or enjoy a cozy cafe or restaurant. Whoever wants to taste the age-old atmosphere of Deventer can best go for a walk. Along the way, you will not only see the oldest stone house in the Netherlands, you will also find the oldest scientific library in the Netherlands, the Athenaeum library, and the oldest park in the Netherlands; the Worpplantsoen. Be amazed by the history and authentic streets with unique shops, special galleries and nice places for a snack and a drink. For nature lovers, a walk along the river is highly recommended!

    Dordrecht

The English newspaper The Times called Dordrecht a ‘hidden gem’ and tipped it as an alternative to city trips to world cities such as Paris and Barcelona. Dordrecht is perhaps indeed one of the Netherlands’ best kept secrets. You will find a city on an island full of culture, bustling festivals, rugged nature and a rich past, witness the thousands of monuments in the historic city center. And certainly in 2020 a visit to Dordrecht is worthwhile. This year it is celebrated that Dordrecht has 800 years of city rights. There are events, special exhibitions and activities throughout the year. Make your visit to Dordrecht complete with a city walk, a boat trip, or a visit to a museum. Dordrecht city on the water …

    Gorinchem

Gorinchem is a real fortified city, beautifully situated opposite Woudrichem on the Merwede and the Linge. Around 1600 the medieval city became a “modern” fortress. The Eighty Years’ War was in full swing and the fortress kept the Spaniards at bay. Later in 1672 Gorinchem became an important fortress in the Oude Hollandse Waterlinie, Gorinchem also remained a strategic stronghold in the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. The original ramparts with bastions are almost completely intact. The footpath over the ramparts runs all the way around and gives beautiful views over the rivers; unique in the Netherlands! Gorinchem is therefore the largest authentic fortress in the Netherlands. Take a look at the fully restored Lingehaven and historic harbor as an extension of this, a nice quiet place on the edge of the pleasant city center.

    Arnhem

As the capital of Gelderland, Arnhem has a rich and eventful history. The city is located in the middle of the beautiful green nature area De Veluwe and you can see that on the menus. Here you eat dishes with wild boar, roe deer, mushrooms and other specialties from the region. Dine at special locations such as the idyllic Groot Wansborn estate or in a former water tower. You can also go shopping in Arnhem. In the Spijkerkwartier and 7straatjes you walk past characteristic shops with a unique selection. Discover the attractive city center of Arnhem and the beautiful shopping streets. Here you will find the nicest shops for every taste and budget. It is not for nothing that Arnhem has been named Best City Center in the Netherlands several times!

    Enkhuizen

Enkhuizen: a picturesque port city with a rich past. Enkhuizen was one of the wealthiest cities in the Netherlands in the seventeenth century. As a member of the Dutch East India Company (VOC), the city, together with Hoorn, gained power and influence. Today, the many mansions, canals, churches, city walls and harbors remind you of this rich history during a walk through the old town. Enkhuizen had more inhabitants in the Golden Age than today. The Drommedaris, the gateway to the city dating from 1540, the Waag from 1559, the Zuiderkerk and the town hall still bear witness to this prosperous past. Enkhuizen is ideal for exploring on foot or by bike. The Zuiderzee Museum is the most important museum in the city. This is the place to find out more about the history of Enkhuizen and the former Zuiderzee.

    Embark on adventure

There’s nothing compared to the yachting life. With every morning comes a different and exciting surprise. Explore historic places, cathedrals and iconic castles in Dutch landscapes. While cruising immerse yourself in Dutch historic events and narratives like Loevestein Castle… the most famous castle in the Netherlands, because who doesn’t know the story of Hugo de Groot who escaped in a book chest? In 1361, in the typically Dutch river landscape, where Maas and Waal meet, knight Dirc Loef van Horne had his castle built. At the time ideal for levying tolls, nowadays attractive for a day out. Everyone can experience everything in the castle, the forecourt and the soldiers’ village. In the museum you will learn about Hugo de Groot, the Middle Ages and the Dutch Waterline. With games you learn more about gunpowder and weapons, and in the basement you can feel the experience of high water. Everyone gets a key to discover everything. Experience a great adventure for young and old!
