    Amsterdam

Amsterdam is known for its artistic heritage, canal network and narrow façade houses, a legacy from the Golden Age. Visit a museum, take a boat trip, walk through the Vondelpark and experience the pleasant atmosphere on the many terraces and shopping streets. Throughout the year there are covered markets at special locations, such as the IJhallen, Cultuurpark Westergas with fashion, design, art, food stalls and the NeighbourFood Market with all kinds of street food to lick your fingers at. Also visit the nice microbreweries in and around Amsterdam. Whether you are looking for a dark brown bock, a fresh white or something in between, just assume that one is brewed to your taste!

    Utrecht

The historic locations in the old city center together form the bustling heart of Utrecht. Many elegant city castles and warehouses have been converted into cozy cafés, trendy shopping concepts and restaurants with world cuisine. The heart of Utrecht is the two thousand year old Domplein. You sit here among the nicest shops, tastiest restaurants and most beautiful sights of the city. But if you look a little further, you will notice that the whole of Utrecht is actually bursting with special places. You can drink the best coffee in the city in the contemporary Voorstraat, and you are at the right place for all your exotic shopping in the multicultural Lombok. For example, start with a cup of coffee in one of the cozy cafés on the Domplein and then climb the 465 steps of the Dom tower for a great view of the city.

    Hanseatic city of Nijmegen

The history of the oldest city in the Netherlands goes back more than 2000 years. Wisdom comes with the years they know in Nijmegen, because you experience the history vividly. Follow the Romans in Nijmegen, then stroll along the trendy boutiques in the shopping streets and plop down on one of the terraces for a snack and a drink. The city is surrounded by a green rolling landscape. From the Waalkade you can walk straight into nature and beaches, cross over De Waal to the impressive Rivierpark, or take a walk along the vineyards and hills at Groesbeek. Towards the west you can taste how fertile the Betuwe and De Bommelerwaard are, dream away in the romantic Land of the rivers Maas and Waal!

    Gorinchem

Gorinchem is a real fortified city, beautifully situated opposite Woudrichem on rivers the Merwede and the Linge. Around 1600 the medieval city became a “modern” fortress. The Eighty Years’ War was in full swing and the fortress kept the Spaniards at bay. Later in 1672 Gorinchem became an important fortress in the Old Dutch Waterline (defense works), Gorinchem also remained a strategic stronghold in the New Dutch Waterline. The original ramparts with bastions are almost completely intact. The footpath over the ramparts runs all the way around and gives beautiful views over the rivers; unique in the Netherlands! Gorinchem is therefore the largest authentic fortress in the Netherlands. Take a look at the fully restored Lingehaven and historic harbor in the extension thereof, a nice quiet place on the edge of the pleasant city center.

    Cozy Zaltbommel is buzzing!

Who does not recognize its silhouette from the Waal bridge and the A2? Visit Zaltbommel, because the city and the surrounding green garden of the Bommelerwaard have everything to offer you! Fortress town of Zaltbommel has retained its small-scale and historic character and is rich in nice shops and restaurants. Sights are plentiful, such as City- castle Zaltbommel, Castle Loevestein and Ammersoyen and the southwestern Dutch Waterline, recently nominated as a UNESCO heritage. Bordering on De Waal and De Maas, De Bommelerwaard has been known as boat owners for some time. But with its vast floodplains and attractive cycling and walking routes, it is also discovered by walkers and cyclists. Enjoy the peace and the greenery. Do you want to get into the big cities from De Bommelerwaard? That is possible, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Den Bosch, Breda, Gorinchem and Nijmegen are less than an hour away. Cycling is inextricably linked to Holland, so we hand you bikes to discover yourself.

    Cycle from East to West

Nowhere can you experience the water and the floodplain from as close as in Rivierenland and De Bommelerwaard. Follow the route from East to West along De Waal, pass through Munnikenland, Slot Loevestein, the Gamerensche and De Brakelse Benedenwaarden. A route that is characterized by dikes, quays, ewe forests and lakes. You pass pasture where Konik horses and Red Geus cattle graze and in the summer months you sniff the most delicious scents along the summer quays. Field sage and Wild Marjoram, also known as oregano, are then in full bloom. Enjoy a sporty, beautiful and educational trip in peace, bikes included!

    Search for the adventure

Loevestein Castle, the most famous castle in the Netherlands, because who doesn’t know the story of Hugo de Groot who escaped in a book chest? In 1361, in the typically Dutch river landscape, where Maas and Waal meet, knight Dirc Loef van Horne had his castle built. At the time ideal for levying tolls, nowadays attractive for a day out. Everyone can experience everything in the castle, the forecourt and the soldiers’ village. In the museum you will learn about Hugo de Groot, the Middle Ages and the Dutch Waterline. With games you learn more about gunpowder and weapons, and in the basement you can feel the experience of high water. Everyone gets a key to discover everything. Experience a great adventure for young and old!

    The Efteling

Known to everyone in Holland and still a fun outing: De Efteling in Kaatsheuvel, about 40 km from Zaltbommel. Whether you are looking for exciting roller coasters, enchanting attractions or spectacular park shows, Efteling has something for everyone. New in De Efteling: Max & Moritz, in the double roller coaster you will experience an exciting, crazy ride full of zones with the whole family. Escape with Max and Moritz from the cuckoo clock workshop in one of their soap boxes. Pay close attention on the way, because the boys like to get mischief! Which job do you choose, Max or Moritz? For the little ones among us, the whole family or real daredevils. Everything is possible in our world full of miracles.
